La Merced del Alto is a striking property at the foot of Cachi Hill, a short distance away from the pretty adobe town of Cachi itself. It’s a very tranquil spot with an outdoor pool as well as a simple spa that can offer massage treatments and a dip in the hydro-massage tub. There are only 14 rooms which means a more intimate atmosphere, and these are simply but tastefully furnished in muted neutrals with terracotta tiled floors and crisp white linens. There are also heaters for cooler evenings in each room and rooms are light and airy. There is a very good a la carte restaurant and bar and breakfast is usually served on the outdoor terrace overlooking the valley. Colourful local textiles and wooden furniture make for a comfy place to relax in while soaking up the views, glass in hand.
